the "going through"...

Menorca, agost 2009

“Stop the car!” “what.... WHAT??” “Stop the car!”

You know one of those moments you would pause the world? Like on a summer afternoon, laying sleepy on a deckchair... on the grass or on the beach... or sitting on the river shore with your legs hanging off.
It is also like a midnight endless kiss you don't want to end. That sound, that taste and that smell.
Like a landscape you cannot understand its beauty and its simplicity.
Then you need to stop the car and pause that very second. Leave everything behind and just exist. You cross the frontier between the “ongoing” and the “right now.”
You realize that everything is actually paused. There is life, there are dreams. No hurries. Just life. That very second disappears with a whisper. We normally let it go with our thoughts. But there... there were no thoughts, there were no dreams, there was no past nor future. Just me in that very second, in that very place after having had one of those experiences listening to “Everything's not lost” with windows down and air flowing in the car. Everybody singing out while the breeze caressed our skin and draw smiles on our faces. No plans made.
So stop the car. Enjoy that very moment. That road. That view.
You realize you're just there, in the very road, in the “through” and the “going to”... and it's full of life and beauty which we transform into happiness. Those stones talk about smiles and looks, and other people singing other moments. “Moments of being”, like Virginia Woolf would say. It's not the goal but a much richer “before.” “The meanwhile” is alive and I was about to cross it without seeing it.
So I needed to stop the car to enjoy the road.

… and the second is gone.
